Microneedling

Microneedling Options
Microneedling can be performed on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, arms, legs, abdomen, and back. Due to advancements in technology, Dr. Nicole only performs RF micro needling and has eliminated skin pens given their minimal value in providing noticeable effects. The added benefit of RF (radiofrequency) is collagen stimulation through heat and controlled depth of treatment which is not possible with a skin pen. The procedure takes between 30 to 90 minutes to complete and involves the use of topical anesthetic or injected anesthetic for body procedures to ensure patient comfort. Platelet-Rich Plasma
Pairing a microneedling treatment with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is derived from the patient, enhances results. This natural substance contains growth factors that promote healing and the production of new cells in the treated area. Blood is first removed through a thin, hollow syringe, and then it is purified to separate the valuable platelets. The PRP is applied to the surface of the skin, penetrating the dermis through the micro-channels created with microneedling.

Recovery
The skin will likely appear pink or red immediately following any microneedling treatment, but this should resolve within two to three days, but will appear much better even one day after treatment. Recovery time may vary from case-to-case. There is no downtime associated with this procedure, but it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight until the skin has completely healed.
Results
Most patients will have noticeably brighter, smoother skin following their microneedling treatment, and results continue to improve for as long as six months as the skin replenishes its stores of collagen. Depending on the desired extent of correction, multiple treatments may be necessary. Sessions are typically spaced four to six weeks apart and three to five treatments are recommended. Ongoing maintenance treatments are optional.
