Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the contour of the abdomen. The extent of the incision is determined by the amount and location of skin laxity (looseness).

Some women only require a mini tummy tuck, in which there is a shortened horizontal incision and no incision around the umbilicus.  It will not correct any upper abdominal looseness. A mini tummy tuck can be safely combined with other body contouring procedures.

A full tummy tuck involves a long horizontal incision which is placed low in the suprapubic region and an incision around the umbilicus.  The skin from above the umbilicus is moved down to meet the lower incision and a new opening is created for your umbilicus. At the same time, your abdominal muscles are tightened (if needed).

The mid-section is an area both men & women seek to improve. It is very common after childbearing for women to seek cosmetic surgery to regain their figure. Each person is unique and depending on your goals, Dr. Patel can explain whether a tummy tuck or other body contouring procedure will be best for you.  Whether you desire a tight, flat abdomen or just want to decrease your waistline, come see us for the latest in cosmetic surgery and minimally invasive treatments.
