A body lift is a combination of procedures that often follow massive weight loss. After losing a significant amount of weight, the resultant excess loose skin can be removed allowing for an improved figure. It also allows for increased activity by taking away burdensome hanging skin and fat.
Dr. Castellese recommends staging or separating your procedures to allow for a safer surgery and enhanced recovery. She will discuss the preferred order of your surgeries to meet your goals. Some procedures may be combined safely.
Below you will find some of the procedures included in a body lift:
- Tummy tuck
- Buttock lift – this is the continuation of a tummy tuck incision across the lower back to allow lifting of the buttocks and outer thighs.
- Thigh lift – the extent of thigh lift incision varies depending on your physique, but is typically in the inner groin crease. A thigh lift should be performed after surgeries needed to improve the trunk (such as tummy tuck and buttock lift).
- Arm lift – an arm reduction after massive weight loss often requires a long incision along the inner arm. If skin laxity is minimal, a minimally invasive body contouring procedure may be recommended.
- Breast lift
- Facial rejuvenation
- Body contouring – may be used in conjunction with other surgical procedures
Your well-being, with maintenance of a healthy lifestyle, is paramount. Stability in all aspects of life will allow you to reach your goals, both in terms of your outward appearance & your happiness. Dr. Castellese is pleased to be your partner in attaining your goals.
